We are sure there have been many occasions where you
have found yourselves at a meeting with professionals (whether educational
or health care) and had letters whizzing past your ears at a phenomenal
rate, not being able to (or maybe being too embarrassed to) ask
what each one meant. Well, it is commonplace for professionals
in every arena to use abbreviations to form acronyms that describe
terms -- the disability arena is no different.
Here is a list of some of the more common acronyms
that are used with regard to the disability community in the areas
of education, health care and related services.
